This race is sponsored by Girl Scout Troop 109147 to help promote girls ages 6 to 14 (Elementary and Middle school) from novice to experienced to come out and get moving in a run-bike-run duathlon on Sunday October 29th at John Paul Landing Park starting at 8:45 AM. There will be a "short course" that will include (0.5 mile run followed by 2 mile bike ride and then finishing with 0.75 mile run) intended for girls new to duathlons and "long course" that will include ( 1 mile run followed by 4 mile bike ride and then finishing 1.5 mile run) for girls with experience or up for the challenge!
Girl Scout Troop 109147 is collecting "the essentials" (NEW underwear, under shirts, and socks) for the Beacon Homeless shelter because these are the items that are not donated and needed the most for those suffering in homeless conditions in life. Please consider donating to help buy the items or bring with you on race day and drop off at the Girl Scout table in the post race area.
AWARDS will be given by age groups for each race. Short course: overall winner then 8 years old and under; 9-10 years; 11-12 years old and 13-14 years old. Long course: Overall winner then 10 years old; 11-12 years old and 13-14 years old. The Caker will be making the GIRL POWER Awards.
Packet pick up will be on RACE DAY opening at 7:30 AM. Packets will include t-shirt, race bib number with timing chip, and numbers for bike/helmet. Transition area for bike set will open at 7:45 AM and close at 8:40 AM.
THINGS TO BRING: bike helmet, bike, water bottle and your GIRL POWER!
The post race party area will be filled with wide variety of activities in our community that girls can learn about and see if there is something they would like to join. Girl Scouts will also have an opportunity to earn a fitness badge by completing the event and post race party scavenger hunt questions! Please come out and support girls finding their GIRL POWER and Get Moving!
