Lost Creek Turkey Trot 5K/1MILE
Cullman, AL
Cullman County
Nov 28, 2024 - Thursday
5K, 1M trail run
  • Details from event's RunSignUp.com listing:

The 1st Annual Lost Creek Turkey Trot will be held on Thursday, November 23rd on the beautiful campus of St. Bernard Prep School in Cullman, Alabama. This is truly a special place and there is no place like it in Alabama.

The race will be run utilizing the trail system on campus. Imagine. Both the 5k and 1-mile courses begin close to "The Gate." The course then flows through finely manicured trails taking the race along a serene and enchanting journey through nature's embrace. This trail system is private property and therefore it is very common to see deer, turkey, all sorts of birds, and other wildlife.

As you enter the "Lost Creek" trail so often you are greeted by the 8-Mile Creek's melodious babbling as the water dances over the stones. The trail meanders along the creek's edge protected all around by the towering trees and overhead canopy of the forest. If we are fortunate the playful squirrels or a variety of songbirds may add their melody to the symphony of nature.

The course will then turn onto "The Gauntlet" trail where we will be pushed to run strong through rolling hills and over the bridges where trolls are rumored to live (only joking). Once on the "The Gauntlet" the course is moving back towards the finish line, which is adjacent to the starting line and "The Gate."

This race invites us to challenge ourselves through nature's escape and perhaps lose ourselves in the joy and beauty of competition and the great outdoors for a time.

    Race Day Information

On race day, when you pull into the St. Bernard campus off Highway 278 you will take a left on St. Bernard Drive SE. When you take this left you will be driving through campus with Boniface Hall and the Gymnasium/Tennis Courts on your left with the large Magnolia trees and inner campus buildings on your right. Continue along St. Bernard Drive and you will drive past a stadium on your left and a lake on your right. Another 100 yards and you are on the backside of campus. This is where we will be setup. The signage will get you the rest of the way. There is a gravel parking lot beside the barn. Registration/Packet-Pickup will be located adjacent to this parking area. The starting and finishing line is very close to this area as well. The signage as well as the meet director and volunteers will make it easy to find your way from here.
